Need some wellness advice? Looking for answers and don't know where to turn? Could you use a listening ear to help you guide you through the maze that the medical community can sometimes be?
The Orchard Park Parish Health Ministry exists to help you address these issues and more. We work to promote total wellness, focusing on the Mind/Body/Spirit connection. Our staff of Registered Nurses are ready to help you address your health concerns and get you going in the right direction if you aren't sure where to start.
We serve as health counselors, educators and liaisons to community resources. We hold regular office hours and are available to listen, confidentially, to any of your health concerns. While we do not administer direct "hands on" health care, we will assist you in getting the care that you need. We currently offer the following services:
- Health Education
- Blood Pressure Screenings (Offered on any Sunday at your request.)
- Walking Program: Presently, we are walking inside the church on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 in the evening and on Saturday mornings from 8:45 to 9:45. Beginning in mid-April we will resume walking outside. Please contact Pat Thompson for more information.
- Home/Hospital Visits
- Coming Home Celebration
- Service of Remembrance
- Liaison to community health resources
Heart Health
One thing that never goes out of style and can be practiced yearly is caring for your heart. Some risks factors that you can help to control are: high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes and inactivity
Talk with your doctor about ways to control these risk factors. Through out the year we will be planning classes and passing on information regarding these topics. Contact the parish nurses if we can be of more immediate help to you.
Attn: Church Members -- New Privacy Policy
Because of the Federal Policy on Privacy issues mandated by law, hospitals and other health care facilities can no longer notify churches of admissions. We are encouraging families to notify the church office when a loved one is admitted to a hospital or health care facility.
Give us a call or stop in during our office hours, we look forward to serving you!
