Support New Members

There are many ways to learn about Orchard Park Presbyterian Church including Worship Services, Education Ministries for people of all ages or Mission Programs. However, there is nothing like the personal touch of an existing member reaching out to a new member as a Shepherd.

Shepherds are members of OPPC who have volunteered to be a friend and nurturer to a new family who joins the church. It is a one-on-one ministry where the Shepherd is assigned to the new family and helps the new family to become acquainted with OPPC and the many opportunities available here. The Shepherd becomes the contact person if the new family has questions about programs or the church in general. The Shepherd is asked to contact the new family twice a month or more if necessary.

Meeting the new families at church is one of the best ways for contact and an excellent way to help a friendship grow. Shepherds are asked to keep this contact for at least one year, but in most cases the Shepherd and new member relationship grows very strong and lasts much longer. For more information about becoming a Shepherd, please contact Rev. Mike Ireland, mireland@orchardpark.org, or Carol Moorman, Outreach Elder.
