Vacation Bible School

Plan on Vacation Bible School being the highlight of your child's summer! VBS normally is held during the first or second week of June from 9:00 AM to noon. The kids have a great time, meet new friends and receive a wonderful Christian education. Activities include games, Bible stories, crafts, music, snacks and fun!

VBS is open to all children who will be four years old by June 1 through fifth graders. Four year olds and pre-kindergarten five-year-olds enjoy their VBS experience in an age-appropriate setting, just right for preschoolers. However, children who will be in kindergarten in the fall through those who have completed fourth grade will travel throughout the church in age-defined groups to different sites as they explore the VBS theme.

Youth who completed fifth grade in the spring have their own VBS experience called “VITAmens” (Volunteers in Training—Amen!). Too young to be full-fledged volunteers, too old to enjoy the VBS that they have previously participated in, VITAmens have their own youth Bible study and fellowship time and their own crafts. A leadership training component is integrated in their mornings to help them move into supervised leadership during the week of VBS. Neighbors and friends are welcome - you do not need to be members of OPPC to have your child enjoy VBS.
