Sunday Mornings

Welcome to KidsConnection! On Sunday mornings we have a variety of programming for children at OPPC. We call our Sunday morning children’s ministry program for newborns through fifth graders “KidsConnection.” Through KidsConnection we strive to connect your child to God, the church family, a personal faith journey, a heart for mission and a life that models the Great Commission. Other, more specific programs include Junction 25, Children’s Message and Children’s Church, and Childcare during services. Click on the highlight links or scroll down for more details.
KidsConnection
KidsConnection classes begin at 10:10 AM and finish at 11:00 AM.
• Classrooms for toddlers through first graders are on the first floor and in the hallway across from the church office.
• Second through fifth graders meet upstairs in Room 212 for Junction 25 at 10:00 AM, and then participate in their classes at approximately 10:20 AM. KidsConnection teachers will walk them from Junction 25 to their classes.
Parents of children up to second grade are asked to pick up their children from KidsConnection classes at 11:00 AM. Third through fifth graders may leave class independently to meet their parents.
Children and youth are promoted to new classes, based on age/grade, on the first Sunday in June.
See Map for room assignments.

Junction 25
Second through fifth graders meet upstairs in Room 212 for Junction 25 at 10:00 AM, and then participate in their classes at approximately 10:20 AM. In Junction 25, children enjoy a light snack, fellowship, review Bible verses and participate in mission opportunities.
Children’s Message
A brief Children’s Message is shared during all worship services. Children are invited to the front of the Sanctuary or Pavilion for this message designed just for them. Following the Children’s Message, preschool children are welcomed to Rooms 127 and 130 for childcare. Kindergarten, first and second graders are encouraged to participate in Children’s Church in the Katie Holliday Chapel. Third graders and older are invited to stay and share the worship service with their parents in the Sanctuary or Pavilion.
Children’s Church
During all worship services, Children’s Church is available for children in kindergarten, first and second grades. Children enjoy singing, learning Bible stories, memorizing Bible verses and sharing joys, concerns and prayer. Children’s Church helps participants experience worship in a child-friendly setting.
Children’s Church during the 9:00 AM worship service
Children first will attend the 9AM worship service with their families. This is an opportunity for children to experience a portion of worship with their family in the Sanctuary. Following the Children’s Message, kindergarten through second graders are invited to attend Children’s Church in the Katie Holliday Chapel located off Main Street. Parents pick up their children following the service.

Childcare
Time: 8:45 AM through the close of ReGeneration Service (approximately 12:30 PM).
Infants (newborns through early-walkers) Room 114
Toddlers (early-walkers through 2 year olds) Room 127
Preschoolers (3 year olds through pre-kindergarten 5 year olds) Room 130
A permanent paid attendant staffs the infant nursery each Sunday morning. It is a comfort for both babies and parents to experience the same nursery attendant weekly. During each service, she is assisted by volunteers from the OPPC family.
In addition, a permanent childcare coordinator is employed who oversees the childcare rooms and room attendant schedules. She is present each Sunday morning as well, helping children and parents transition in and out of childcare rooms and facilitating the volunteer attendants.
A pager system is in place for Rooms 114 and 127 (infant and toddler rooms). As parents sign their children in, they are assigned a vibrating pager. Should the need arise, they can be paged wherever they are in the church.
Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance to us. Nationwide background checks are conducted on each of our Children’s Ministry staff, both paid and volunteers. In addition, personal references are checked before childcare attendants are scheduled.
