Other Children's Activities at OPPC

There are many other opportunities and events for children to participate in at OPPC!

Acolytes
Children in third through sixth grades are invited to participate in acolyte training and serve during the 9:00 AM worship. Acolytes light the sanctuary candles before the service and extinguish them at the conclusion of the service. Being an acolyte gives the child an opportunity to be a vital part of the worship service.

Children’s Choir
Mike and Kimberly Pietranczyk direct the Kinderchoir and the Treble Choir at OPPC. Refer to OPPC Music Ministries for more details.

Children’s Mission Day
Children's Mission Day is an annual event hosted by Hannah Circle to provide hands-on mission experience and education for children. Refer to Presbyterian Women, Hannah Circle, for more details.

Christmas, Easter and Other Seasonal Events
All children are invited to participate in the annual Children’s Christmas Service. Special classes are also held for children during Lent on Wednesday evenings. Past seasonal events have included Breakfast in Bethlehem, Trunk or Treat, nursing home visits, family sock hop, children’s Seder and midweek classes during the fall.

Confirmation Class
Seventh and eighth graders are invited to more deeply explore their faith and church membership by participating in a two-year confirmation class. Refer to Youth Ministries for more information.

Route 45, Connecting Friends to Jesus
This fellowship group for fourth and fifth graders meets once a month, usually on Sunday afternoon. A variety of activities are enjoyed throughout the year: age-appropriate mission experiences, bowling, game day, corn maze/hayrides, scavenger hunt, pottery painting, picnicking, hiking, etc. Children are encouraged to bring friends to Route 45 events. The Route 45 experience helps girls and boys recognize the importance of team building and fellowship with peers. When they reach the busy teen years, transition to Youth Ministries events is seamless.

Orchard Park Library
The Orchard Park library is a valuable source of Christian-based books and videos for you and your family.

Third Grade Bible Presentation
The OPPC family presents a Bible to each third grader in the fall. “Getting to Know My Bible” parties are held for third graders during the year. Children in third through fifth grades are encouraged to bring their bibles to KidsConnection where Bibles are used each Sunday in class.

Family Fun Nights
Throughout the year, the Children’s Ministries staff and parent volunteers host Family Fun Nights. Check the Calendar or the Newsletter for the latest information about these family-friendly entertainment and fellowship opportunities.
