Stewardship: Making a Difference Sharing our Gifts from the Lord

The following are important facts to remember as you pray about how you will share your personal resources with Orchard Park Presbyterian Church and its ministries.

Each of Us is Called to be a Steward or Manager of all that the Lord has Given to Us
God has given us abilities and talents that are unique. We are to manage what God has given to us by how we treat ourselves, by how we treat others, and by how we treat all the resources of our world.

Everything We Have Comes from God
God has given us life, our home, our community, our jobs and our families. We are to express to God our gratitude. Some of us have more than others, but it is how we use what we have that is important.

God Gives Us Time
Time is most precious in a society in which we find ourselves becoming more and more busy. Demands are made upon each of us, but as we experience more of life, we come to realize that life is short. It is important how we use each day to the Glory of the Lord. Consider how you are using your time to serve God.

God Gives Us Talents
Each one of us has talents. Sometimes it may not be easy for us to discover those talents for ourselves. OPPC has diagnostic tools to help you discovery your spiritual gifts. How are you going to use your spiritual gifts to serve the Lord in the future?

God Gives Us Property
We bring nothing into the world, and we do not take anything with us when we leave. All that we have comes from God. God’s greatest gift to us was His Son, Jesus Christ, who died that we would have eternal life with Him. Jesus asks that we accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior. We give to the Lord because of our love for Him.

We give back to the Lord a worthy portion of our money in order for Christ’s ministry to continue. The Old Testament gives us a guideline of sharing one tenth, a tithe, of our income. See Malachi 3:6-12. The scriptures tell us to give the first fruits of our resources and not just what remains. II Corinthians 9:8.

Stewardship is one of the greatest responsibilities of Christian life. Pray fervently how you will show your gratitude to the Lord and how the Lord will use you, for as it says in Luke 12:48:

"From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required."

Each of us can “Make a Difference” in sharing the love of Jesus with others.
