Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
The season of Lent is upon us. – It is a sacred 40 days, beginning with Ash Wednesday on February 14 and lasting through March 25. It is a time that we move closer to the cross and purge the sins and temptations that keep us from it. We will be moving through the Lenten Season focusing on the ministry, writings and life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
Who was Dietrich Bonhoeffer?
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German, Lutheran Pastor during World War II. He was the author of major works about the church and discipleship, such as “Life Together” and the “Cost of Discipleship.” He was a pacifist, a scholar, a theologian and he participated in a failed plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. As a result, he spent years in prison and was eventually hung in the gallows.
Please join me on Sunday evenings for a time of study and reflection on the life and ministry of this amazing disciple of Jesus Christ. It is striking how prevalent his work and life is for us today.
Please read through this program guide and learn about all of the opportunities coming up. Take special note of the times of our Ash Wednesday services.
May God Bless You this Lenten Season that your prayer life maybe deepened and your love of God may fill you so much light and life, that you cannot help but fall our knees and praise his name.
I Cannot Do This Alone
O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray
And to concentrate my thoughts on you;
I cannot do this alone.
In me there is darkness,
But with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not leave me;
I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways,
But you know the way for me….
Restore me to liberty,
And enable me to live now
That I may answer before you and before men.
Lord whatever this day may bring,
Your name be praised.
