We're Feeding Hungry Kids this Summer and you can help!!
Did you know that there are more than 1,000 children in Carmel Clay Schools that depend on free breakfast and lunch five days a week at school? Many also receive weekend food assistance during the school year. For many years, Orchard Park Presbyterian Church has provided food for these children for Winter and Spring Break.
But we've often wondered, 'What about summer?'
Last winter, God connected us to several other people and organizations who were asking that same question.
We're excited to announce that this year the Carmel community is coming together to address the problem of summer hunger through the first ever Carmel Summer Lunch Program and Orchard Park Presbyterian Church has committed to being one of the distribution sites.
The program, which will provide a sack of nutritious ingredients to make each child five healthy breakfasts and lunches each of the eleven weeks of summer break, is supported by Orchard Park, Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank, Carmel Youth Assistance Program, The Rotary, Kiwanis, St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Merciful Help Center, Carmel United Methodist Church and Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
So how can you help? Each week we will need various food items to help provide these sacks. Click on the button below to download the shopping list. Check back each week for an updated list as we will also be in need of fresh fruit, vegetables, and other perishable items.
The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.” – John 21:17
